We are currently involved in a huge project that is sure to improve the daily lives of thousands of Montrealers: the construction of the future Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) in Montreal.
The project, with a total value of $6.3 billion (including $5 billion for the consortium), aims to build a vast light rail transit system throughout Montreal.
A total of 26 stations will be built by the NouveLR consortium which also includes SNC-Lavalin Grands Projets Inc, Dragados Canada Inc, Aecon Quebec Group Ltd and EBC Inc. As a member, Pomerleau is responsible for the infrastructure engineering, procurement and construction aspects of the project.
Here are some project highlights:
The 26 stations will be spread over 67 km—50 km will be in urban areas.
Major relocations and burials of overhead lines, in conflict with the route, will be carried out.
The design of the structure will be adapted to prevent any conflicts.
The path of nearby municipal sewers and aqueducts will be rerouted.
